The five-door Aion Y of the GAC concern entered the market only a year and a half ago and was excellently accepted by customers: more than 102,000 such machines have been sold in China for all the time! Last summer, demand reached 11-12 thousand pieces monthly. And still, this hatchback has already undergone significant modernization. The fresh model Aion Y Plus is not intended to expand the range, but to completely replace the base electric car.

The Plus prefix in this case means an increase in size: the length has been increased from 4410 mm to 4535 mm. The wheelbase is the same (2750 mm), and almost the entire increase went to the rear overhang, and there was no serious reshaping of the body: the roof and side panels are the same, but the fifth door and the rear bumper have become more voluminous. This allowed to increase the volume of the trunk by 39 liters.

We also worked on the design: Aion Y Plus has new headlights and a different front bumper with a smaller air intake. The rear lights are now united by a jumper, the trunk threshold has become lower, and the area for the license plate has moved from the bumper to the fifth door. Revised body color palette and wheel design (from 17 to 19 inches).

There are also a lot of changes in the cabin, although the general appearance is the same. All handles and buttons have disappeared from the central tunnel, now there are only cup holders and niches for gadgets. Instead of the previous washer, the right stalk is now responsible for switching transmission modes. Virtual instruments are now already “in the database”: they are provided with a 10.25-inch screen. The media system display (14.6 inches) is retained, but the graphics are new, and there are karaoke and cinema modes. Well, almost the main feature of the Y model was the possibility of turning the interior into sleeping places. Among branded accessories there is even an air mattress, the shape of which is chosen specifically for the “relief” of the cabin.
