GEELY EMGRAND L HiP

The Geely Emgrand L and the previous Geely Emgrand GL are small family cars produced by Chinese auto brand Geely Auto under the Emgrand product series. The Emgrand GL was produced from 2016 and the Emgrand L was produced from 2022 as a heavily updated version.

First generation (Emgrand GL)

The Emgrand GL was launched in 2016 by Geely with prices ranging from 78,800 yuan to 113,800 yuan. Despite the styling difference, mechanically, the Emgrand GL is the sedan version of the Emgrand GS hatchback. A few interior parts as well as the Engines were shared between the Emgrand GL and the Emgrand GS which are a 1.3-litre turbo engine producing 130 hp (97 kW; 132 PS) and 185 N⋅m (136 lb⋅ft; 19 kg⋅m) of torque, and a 1.8-litre engine producing 133 hp (99 kW; 135 PS) and 170 N⋅m (125 lb⋅ft; 17 kg⋅m) of torque.

This model still retains the traditional design style of the Geely Emgrand, with no major changes. The lines on the hood are raised prominently, giving it a strong sense of muscularity. The front headlights on both sides have a solid appearance, with neatly arranged internal lamp units, providing high visual recognition when illuminated. The side profile of the Geely Emgrand L HiP reflects a traditional family car style, with clear lines around the windows and strong layering at the sill. The rear features a continuous tail light assembly, with the Geely logo in English embedded below it, and the entire rear bumper appears sturdy.

Interior

After all, the vehicle’s selling price is not high, so the interior design does not adopt a simple style like traditional new energy vehicles. Instead, it still follows Geely’s traditional interior design, giving off a strong sense of fuel-powered vehicles. The steering wheel is slightly fuller, the interior padding is solid, and the grip feels quite good.

Power

The most noteworthy aspect is the powertrain system, which includes a 1.5TD four-cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed DHT Pro gearbox and a dual-motor setup. The electric motors adopt a P1+P2 layout, with a system’s comprehensive maximum power of 233 kW and a comprehensive maximum torque of 610 N·m. Equipped with a 15.5 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, it can provide a pure electric range of 100 km under NEDC conditions. The official claimed fuel consumption is 3.8 L/100 km, with a comprehensive range of 1300 km, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.
