Tolyltriazole is an organic compound belonging to the class of chemicals known as benzotriazoles. It is structurally very similar to the more common Benzotriazole (BTA), with the key difference being the presence of a methyl group (-CH₃) attached to the benzene ring. This methyl substitution gives Tolyltriazole slightly different properties, often making it more soluble in hydrophobic (oil-based) systems and enhancing its performance in certain applications.
Its chemical name is 4-Methyl-1H-benzotriazole or 5-Methyl-1H-benzotriazole, referring to different isomeric forms, but it is most commonly encountered and used as a mixture of these isomers. It is frequently abbreviated as TTZ or TTA.
